Colored appliances go out of style very quickly. Stainless steel appliances are very nice and classy. I would get those with some bright color coordinated
towels
dish drainer (if you use one)
rugs
curtains

If your table is in the kitchen make sure that the linens and the chair pads fit in with your scheme as well.

Stainless steel shows every fingerprint you put on it. Get white appliances.

You can absolutely paint the walls in a different color; if you are renting, when you leave the walls have to be white (and you can use Kwik (http://www.kilz.com/ primer in one coat).
In fact, hand me a roller and I’ll do it for a sixer…
I have always been fond of the Starbucks three different wall scheme. Ohhh and some great Ikea (orange) couches…
Good luck and have crazy fun ;)…
