Small Kitchen Appliances—Consider this…

When you buy a car or a piece of furniture, you probably do a little research…maybe look at product ratings, FAQs, articles and critiques on the internet.  Well, why not…they cost a lot of money.  However, if you think back over the years as to how many different coffee makers, toasters, blenders, whatever you’ve bought, you’ll find you spent a lot of money on those items, too!

In these difficult financial times, it behooves us to be CAREFUL with every penny.  So, let’s talk about what works and why, and more importantly what DOESN’T WORK and why.  Of course, there are kitchen appliances that are excellent!  And, they come with guarantees and warranties.  You KNOW they will work well.  Well, they also cost way more than you can afford to pay.

I would suggest you browse the internet in search of the type of small kitchen appliances you are looking for, check the manufacturer’s guarantees and, of course, the price including shipping if you are buying on line.  Pick out a couple of like items and then, do a little research on quality and reliability.

You can check buyer’s guides for ranking in durability, usefulness, and special or unique product features.  Compare the information you’ve found and make a choice.  Compare prices, and then look at what is available online.  Make sure to check the shipping and handling charges.  This can be huge!

I found it amazing that the sites I though would be the cheapest were, in fact, the most expensive.  If you have access to neighborhood stores that offer these products, take the time to go look, or call them for pricing on a particular item.  You can even contact the manufacturer and ask them WHY their particular product is better!

All of this can be very time consuming, I know but after three new coffee makers in one year I decided I better be a little more discriminating.  It’s wonderful the information available on the internet.  If you ask the right questions, you’ll find answers.  Even if you only type the kitchenware item in the browser and click, you’ll find a wealth of different places to check and compare everything and anything you want to know about that item.

And, most of all, it’s fun!
