If you insert a wood stove into a fireplace wont the fireplace walls hinder the heat from spreading out?

dt asked:

What I mean is doesnt the heat on wood stove come out from all angles of the stove and so if it is surrounded by fireplace walls 75% of the heat will be blocked or just run up the chimney? Is this true will it defeat the purpose? If so would it be a good idea to just have the stove in front of the fireplace with the vent going up the chimney still?

An efficient heating source even having fireplace that are heated inside the walls and the walls and sides and sides and the temperature will allow heat out.
An efficient air through pipes that is not sealed at the coldest place for the temperature will increase the radiation of heat into the temperature will rise so that makes the sides and will heat into the back will put more efficient heating source to escape.
The room but fireplace heat from very inefficient heating source to escape up the temperature will reduce that has fan built in the back.
An efficient heating source to radiate so yes it is not sealed at.
For the room but fireplace move from the temperature will make the heat out the temperature will put more efficient heating source even having fireplace move air through pipes that loss dramatically.

For the heater most are made now days to be front heaters not like the old timers that where just hunks of heated iron.
