How do you get rid of Insect spray from kitchen appliances?

This may seem like a dumb question but I sprayed insect spray on the kitchen window sill and I think the spray landed inside my toaster.

How do I get rid of the spray from inside the toaster? As I don’t want to be consuming it! Or should I just buy a new toaster?
Actually I know the spray got inside the toaster as my toast had a funny taste. So what I want to know is how dangerous is it to consume even a little bit of insect spray?
