Can you heat downstairs by turning your ac unit to fan and using wood stove?

I have a wood burning stove for heat. My upstairs, where the heater is located, is always too hot while the downstairs is freezing. Recently I was told that if I turn my central AC unit to fan then turn it on that it will heat my downstairs area. I was just wondering if this was true.

Yes, it can do what you want, but it’s not going to be as efficient as you would want it to be.
Can you relocate the stove downstairs? Remember, heat rises.

For you but it will work best if the returns are on the ceiling where heat rises too.

I do that. It doesn’t work great, but OK. It depends on your house. You need to close some registers to get the best results.
